Powered wheelchairs & batteries
The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.
Electric wheelchairs are carried under section 14.3 of the Conditions of Carriage ('Wheelchairs and similar mobility aids (used by passengers with reduced mobility) powered by lithium batteries'), subject to the 48-hour assistance notification and the published per-aircraft dimension table.
Lithium-powered wheelchairs and similar mobility aids are carried. Non-removable batteries must be securely attached with terminals protected against short circuit; removable batteries must be removed by the passenger, packed in a protective bag and carried in the cabin.
'When the lithium battery remains installed in the mobility aid, there is no watt-hour (Wh) limit, provided it complies with the manufacturer's design and safety requirements.' The battery must be securely attached and its terminals protected, e.g. enclosed within a battery container.
For removable batteries: 'The passenger must remove the battery. Each battery must be packed in a protective bag (provided by the passenger). Battery must not exceed 300 Wh.'
'Each passenger may carry a maximum of one spare battery not exceeding 300 Wh, or two spare batteries each not exceeding 160 Wh.' Spares travel in the cabin.
Maximum count is two: 'one spare battery not exceeding 300 Wh, or two spare batteries each not exceeding 160 Wh'. Taking two spares means each must be 160 Wh or less; a single spare may be up to 300 Wh.
Only where the battery is removable: 'The passenger must remove the battery', pack it in a protective bag they supply and carry it in the cabin, and 'captain and purser must be informed of the seat number of the passenger carrying the removed battery'. Non-removable batteries stay installed with no watt-hour limit.
Not published. Volotea gives no rule for gel, AGM, sealed lead-acid or dry-cell mobility-aid batteries — only for lithium ones.

The published table of maximum permissible dimensions of reduced-mobility equipment gives 'Weight 150 kg' for all three aircraft types listed (Boeing 717, Airbus A319, Airbus A320).
Not published. Volotea says only that on arrival 'the assistant will meet you in the plane and will help you move from your seat or from the plane door to a wheelchair' — it does not say whether that is your own chair returned at the aircraft door.
Volotea will not accept passengers who require a stretcher. PRM places are capped at 12–18 per flight depending on the aircraft configuration, no more than 2 PRM may travel alone on a flight, and both caps halve when there is an operational limitation such as an inoperative cabin door.

'Passengers who require special assistance must notify us of this at least 48 hours before their flight.' Appendix III puts it as 'at least two business days (48h) in advance of the day of your departure'. Most special services also require check-in at least two hours before scheduled departure.

Cabin crew 'can help you to find your seat ..., store and retrieve hand luggage, move between your seat and the toilet'. But Volotea recommends travelling with a companion if you need help eating, taking medication, 'getting up from, or sitting down on, your seat on the plane', or reaching an emergency exit unaided.
'All our aircraft have some seats with moveable armrests to allow you to access your seat easily. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide assistance equipment such as seat booster cushions on board.' PRM may not be assigned seats with direct access to emergency exits.

Worth knowing
Volotea is one of the few low-cost carriers that states outright there is NO watt-hour limit for a lithium battery that stays installed in the chair — the 300 Wh cap applies only to a battery that has to come out. Carriage of the aid itself is free; no fee is charged for assistance or for up to two mobility devices. Two things to check before booking: (1) the published dimension table still lists a Boeing 717 whose 75 cm hold height is far tighter than the A319/A320 rows, yet Volotea's own fleet page says the fleet is '40 airbus aircrafts: 20 A319 and 20 A320' — the A319 row (142 x 181.7 x 200 cm, 150 kg) is recorded here as the binding limit and a human should ask Volotea to confirm the 717 row is obsolete; (2) PRM capacity is capped at 12–18 per flight and at most 2 PRM travelling alone, halved when a cabin door is inoperative, so a late request can be refused on capacity grounds. Volotea will not carry a passenger who needs a stretcher, and publishes no on-board wheelchair or accessible lavatory. volotea.com sits behind an Incapsula bot wall (direct fetch and the r.jina.ai reader proxy both return 'Request unsuccessful. Incapsula incident ID'); the pages cited were read through Google's translate.goog transport, which serves Volotea's own English pages verbatim.
