Powered wheelchairs & batteries

The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.

Two things a human should re-check: (1) the leaflet says one spare may be up to 300 Wh, then two lines later says up to two spares are allowed only if the COMBINED total stays under 300 Wh / 25 g of lithium — these conflict; (2) the 'Electric Wheelchairs' checklist requires a dry or non-spillable wet battery labelled 'non-spillable battery', which sits oddly beside the same document's lithium-ion rules. Volaris publishes no dedicated disability phone line or e-mail — the named channel is WhatsApp. The chair is returned with checked baggage, not at the aircraft door. Volaris flies as Concesionaria Vuela Compañía de Aviación (Y4), Vuela Aviación S.A. and Vuela El Salvador S.A.; the cargo-hold disclosure covers all three.
