Fragments only. Tunisair publishes some assistance information but not a full mobility-aid policy. What is below is everything it actually states. Everything marked “not published” genuinely is — confirm it with the airline rather than assuming the international baseline applies.

Postal addresses for accessibility feedback: Tunis — Boulevard Mohamed Bouazizi, 2035 Tunis Carthage; Montréal — 1440 Ste Catherine Ouest, suite 518, Montréal QC H3G 1R8. Powered wheelchairs & batteries

The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.

Powered chairs accepted
Yes

Canada tariff, Rule 74(F)1(a): the carrier accepts as priority baggage, free of charge and in addition to the checked allowance, "un fauteuil roulant électrique, un fauteuil automoteur ou un fauteuil roulant manuel à cadre rigide". Tunisair's general website does not separately address powered chairs.

Lithium-ion batteries
Not published

Not published for mobility aids. "Batteries au lithium" appear on Tunisair's list of prohibited/regulated items with the instruction to contact the airline, and lithium-powered hoverboards/e-skates are banned outright, but nothing is said about lithium-powered wheelchairs.

Watt-hour cap — battery stays in the chair

Not published; Tunisair states no watt-hour limit for a wheelchair battery.

Not published — Tunisair does not say whether a wheelchair battery must be removed and carried in the cabin.

Non-spillable batteriesgel, AGM, sealed lead-acid, dry cell
Not published

Not published — Tunisair states no rule for gel, AGM, sealed lead-acid or dry-cell wheelchair batteries.

Wet / spillable batteries
Not published

Not published. Tunisair gives no wheelchair battery rules of any kind on its website, in its conditions of carriage or in its Canada tariff.

Terminal protection & immobilisation
Not published

Not published — no terminal-insulation or immobilisation instruction is given for wheelchair batteries.

Paperwork the airline wants
Not published

Not published. Tunisair asks only that special-assistance needs be notified 48 h ahead and that a medical certificate may be required for the passenger; it names no battery documentation.

Size limit for a powered chair
Not published

No dimensions published for powered wheelchairs.

Weight limit for a powered chair
Not published

No weight limit published for powered wheelchairs.

Returned at the aircraft door
Not published

Not published for powered chairs — the 2026 progress report's door-to-door commitment is written specifically for customers with their own manual chair.

Tunisair's general baggage page states that any single piece over 32 kg must be handled by the cargo service; that rule is written for ordinary checked baggage, and Tunisair does not say whether it applies to a heavy power chair — worth asking before travelling. Batteries and their watt-hours are simply not covered anywhere on the site, so a power-chair user must clear the battery with the special-cases desk case by case.

Manual wheelchairs

Manual chairs accepted
Yes

"Les passagers à mobilité réduite peuvent transporter gratuitement un fauteuil roulant et/ou un autre dispositif de réhabilitation duquel ils dépendent." The Canada tariff accepts a rigid-frame or folding manual chair free of charge as priority baggage, in addition to the checked allowance.

Folding chair may travel in the cabin
Yes

This provision is filed for Tunisair's Canada operations; the general site does not repeat it.

In-cabin stowage limit
Not published

No in-cabin stowage dimensions published; the Canada tariff only says a folding manual chair may be stowed in the cabin "s'il y a suffisamment d'espace".

Size limit for a checked manual chair
Not published

Tunisair publishes no wheelchair dimensions, per aircraft or otherwise.

Weight limit for a manual chair
Not published

No weight limit published for wheelchairs. The generic checked-baggage rule that any piece over 32 kg must go as cargo is written for ordinary baggage, not for mobility aids.

Returned at the aircraft door
Yes

The same report describes the project as "en cours d'étude et mise en place". The Canada tariff also lets a manual-chair user stay in their chair to the gate and, space permitting, to their seat.

Mobility devices carried free
Not published

No count published. Tunisair says a PRM may carry free of charge "un fauteuil roulant et/ou un autre dispositif de réhabilitation duquel ils dépendent (y compris POC)"; the Canada tariff lists categories accepted free (powered chair / rigid manual chair, folding manual chair, walker, cane, crutches, orthoses, communication aids, small prostheses or medical devices) without giving a number.

If they damage your chair
Montreal/Warsaw Convention limit of 1,131 SDR per passenger for checked and unchecked baggage; Tunisair does not accept a declaration of higher value

Fleet detail. Canada tariff: wheelchairs and mobility aids are the last items loaded into the hold and the first taken out, and Tunisair dismantles and reassembles mobility aids free of charge. No aircraft-specific hold or door dimensions are published.

Worth knowing

Tunisair's public mobility-aid policy is thin: the website says only that a PRM may carry a wheelchair and/or another rehabilitation device free of charge and that assistance must be requested 48 hours ahead. There is NO published rule anywhere — website, conditions générales de transport, accessibility plan — on wheelchair batteries (spillable, non-spillable or lithium), on watt-hour limits, on chair weight or on chair dimensions. Everything substantive found here comes from two documents most travellers will never open: the Canada tariff filed with the Canadian Transportation Agency (Rule 74: electric chair accepted free as priority baggage; folding manual chair may be stowed in the cabin if there is room; free dismantling/reassembly; last-in/first-out of the hold; transfer assistance; 1,131 SDR liability with no excess-value declaration accepted) and the 2026 accessibility progress report (own manual chair may be kept to the aircraft door and returned at the aircraft door). Those two apply, respectively, to Canada flights and to manual chairs only, so a power-chair user on any other route has essentially nothing published to rely on and must clear the battery with the special-cases desk. Note also that the French and English special-assistance pages print different call-centre numbers.
