Who to contact

Transcribed from the airline’s own pages, exactly as it labels them.

SunExpress publishes no dedicated disability desk, no accessibility email and no separate assistance form: the "submit your requests ... here" link on the accessible-travel page points to the general Help & Contact page, and every wheelchair or battery arrangement runs through the Customer Service Center. Numbers as printed on the Help Center page; costs may apply at local landline rates.

Powered wheelchairs & batteries

The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.

Powered chairs accepted
Conditional

Accepted only with prior approval: "Passengers must make a reservation for their battery-powered wheelchairs through the Customer Service Center", and the dangerous-goods table states for battery-powered mobility devices and wheelchairs "Approval of Customer Service Center is required" — allowed as checked baggage. Chairs that cannot be loaded are refused.

Lithium-ion batteries
Conditional

"Wheelchair with Lithium Battery (WCLB)" is listed among the wheelchairs SunExpress can transport and lithium chairs are "Allowed as checked baggage. (collapsible mobility devices with lithium ion batteries could be accepted in cabin)" — but the dangerous-goods table's approval column for "Battery Powered mobility devices and wheelchairs" reads "Approval of Customer Service Center is required", and "Passengers must make a reservation for their battery-powered wheelchairs through the Customer Service Center", stating battery type, battery power and wheelchair size.

Watt-hour cap — battery stays in the chair
Not published

Not published for wheelchairs. SunExpress asks you to declare the "battery power" to the Customer Service Center but states no watt-hour ceiling for a chair battery; the 160 Wh cap in its dangerous-goods table is written for general lithium-ion powered devices.

Watt-hour cap — battery removed into the cabin
Not published

Not published — SunExpress gives no watt-hour figure for a wheelchair battery removed into the cabin.

Watt-hour cap — spare battery
Not published

Not published for mobility aids. The only spare-battery rule published is the general one for portable electronics: spare lithium-ion batteries between 100 Wh and 160 Wh, hand baggage only.

Spare batteries permittedmaximum number under any published configuration
Not published

Not published for mobility aids. The dangerous-goods table's "Max 2 pcs. per person" applies to general spare lithium-ion batteries of 100–160 Wh, not to wheelchair batteries.

Battery must be removed
Not published

Not published as a requirement. The dangerous-goods table says a wheelchair with a non-spillable or lithium battery is "Allowed as checked baggage", adding only that collapsible powered devices could be accepted in the cabin.

Non-spillable batteriesgel, AGM, sealed lead-acid, dry cell
Conditional

"Wheelchair Battery Dry (WCBD): Wheelchair that is operated by power supply with non-liquid gel or dry battery" is transportable and allowed as checked baggage, with the pole heads dismantled or the circuit completely turned off and cables prevented from contacting. But the dangerous-goods table states for "Battery Powered mobility devices and wheelchairs": "Approval of Customer Service Center is required"; the reservation must be made through the Customer Service Center.

Wet / spillable batteries
No

"We can't transport the electronic wheelchairs with spillable battery due to safety reasons since they are not safe against flow." The dangerous-goods table lists "spillable WCH batteries" as not accepted, and "Wheelchairs operated by liquid power supply (WCHBW)" among devices SunExpress cannot admit.

Booking & cost

Advance notice requiredhours before scheduled departure
48h

"Please call us to inform about your wheelchair or any other equipments you will need during your flight at least 48 hours prior to departure"; special-assistance requests must also be submitted at least 48 hours before departure. Check-in counter at least 2 hours before departure; requests made under 2 hours may not be met. The same 48-hour deadline is the Turkish DGCA legal minimum (SHT-ENGELSİZ art. 10; a return booked at the same time with the same carrier needs no separate request).

How to request assistance
Through the Customer Service Center (or ticket office, tour operator, travel agency) at booking or at least 48 h before departure

"Disabled passengers and passengers with reduced mobility can book their seats via our Customer Service Center", giving the type, dimension and weight of the equipment. Battery-powered chairs must be reserved through the Customer Service Center with battery type, battery power and wheelchair size. An e-mail confirms when the service request is approved.

Charge for carrying the aid
No fee

"The carriage of your mobility aids (including power supply vehicles) is free of charge. It will be labelled separately and transported safely." Airport wheelchair service is also free, and "SunExpress doesn't charge for the services delivered to disabled passengers or passengers with reduced mobility." Turkish law says the same: SHT-ENGELSİZ art. 11 obliges the carrier to provide the Annex-1 assistance "without demanding an extra fee, report/document etc."

Mobility devices carried free
Not published

SunExpress publishes no number, so no value is asserted. As a legal backstop the Turkish DGCA instruction SHT-ENGELSIZ (Annex-1) entitles each disabled passenger to carriage of up to 2 mobility items, electric wheelchair included — that is the regulator's floor, not SunExpress's published policy.

If they damage your chair
Compensation determined according to international agreements

"Damages in your luggage and equipment will be compensated very fast and in priority. The compensation to be paid for the luggage and/or equipment that is damaged is determined according to international agreements." Claims go to the Lost & Found Department and must be sent to SunExpress in writing immediately. Turkish law adds a specific rule: SHT-ENGELSİZ art. 14 makes the service provider responsible at the stage where a wheelchair or other mobility equipment is lost or damaged liable for the passenger's loss, and art. 15 forbids limiting or waiving that duty.

On board

On-board aisle chair
Not published

Not published. SunExpress describes only the airport wheelchair service levels (WCHR/WCHS/WCHC) and says WCHC passengers are brought to their seat; no on-board aisle chair is mentioned.

Accessible lavatory
Not published

Not published. Cabin crew "may assist disabled passengers and passengers with reduced mobility for going to and returning from WC", but no accessible lavatory is claimed.

Crew help you transfer
Yes

"Service Level 3 (WCHC): For passengers who cannot walk without assistance, this service will bring them to their seat in the cabin and pick them up from there at the arrival destination." Passengers needing personal care, medication or help fastening a seatbelt must still travel with an accompanying person. SunExpress's live passenger-rights brochure repeats that "passengers with reduced mobility ... will receive special services from our airport staff as required under the Passenger Rights Regulation".

Seating & movable armrests
Window seats (A/F) only in advance; emergency exit rows not permitted

"Passengers with reduced mobility can only reserve window seats (A/F) in advance. Other seats might be allocated at the airport check-in desk with consideration to the type and/or grade of the physical restriction." Disabled passengers are not allowed in emergency exit rows and will be reseated if online check-in assigns one.

Fleet detail. All-Boeing-737 fleet. SunExpress states assisting/medical equipment "must not exceed 84 x 120 cm" and that a wheelchair which cannot be loaded for physical reasons will be refused; separately its special-baggage page limits sports equipment to 84 cm in height and 122 cm in width, which suggests the same hold aperture constrains a chair.

Worth knowing

FRESHNESS PASS 2026-07-29. www.sunexpress.com is still behind a Cloudflare managed challenge and could not be read live from anywhere: direct HTTPS with a full Chrome header set returns 403 "Just a moment...", and the r.jina.ai reader returns the same challenge page at --render 25, --render 40, x-engine browser and x-wait-for-selector; www/non-www, http/https, the /tr-tr/ and /de-de/ locales and even /robots.txt are all walled, and Wayback Save Page Now answers 520. CDX was re-checked for every cited page and the snapshots below are the NEWEST 200 captures that exist (accessible travel 2026-04-17, dangerous goods 2026-02-15, Help & Contact 2026-06-17, special baggage 2026-03-10) — so the HTML facts here are 1–6 months old, not years. TWO LIVE SOURCES WERE ADDED so this record no longer rests on the archive alone: SunExpress's own passenger-rights brochure on its static host, static.sunexpress.com, which is NOT behind the bot wall and opens normally (s5); and the Turkish DGCA instruction SHT-ENGELSİZ (s6), which is the legal floor under everything SunExpress does. CONTRADICTION A HUMAN SHOULD CHECK: SHT-ENGELSİZ art. 11 says the carrier must provide assistance "without demanding an extra fee, report/document etc.", yet SunExpress's accessible-travel page requires a medical certificate stating the exact weight and dimensions of medical luggage at check-in and at the gate. Also unchanged from the previous pass: the accessible-travel page carries an older duplicated block saying only non-flowing gel or dry batteries can be carried (no lithium) while the current text lists WCLB lithium chairs as accepted — the newer text is used here; SunExpress publishes no watt-hour limit for wheelchair batteries at all, only a 160 Wh ceiling for general lithium-ion devices, so declare your battery to the Customer Service Center; special-service passengers can use online check-in only on domestic flights; and wheelchair service is not guaranteed for walk-up requests or requests made under 2 hours before departure.
