Shenzhen Airlines publishes no dedicated accessibility desk, no assistance-request web form and no TTY/text-relay service. Every wheelchair, service-dog and stretcher request goes through the general hotline 95361 (or +86 755 88814023 from outside the mainland) or a Shenzhen Airlines ticket office, and must be made when the ticket is bought — the wheelchair page opens "all special passenger services should be applied for at the time of ticket purchasing". Shenzhen Airlines does not serve the USA, so it publishes no DOT Complaints Resolution Official page (its baggage tariff nonetheless carries a dormant clause about unlimited free wheelchairs "on U.S. routes").

Powered wheelchairs & batteries

The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.

Powered chairs accepted

Conditions of carriage 6.2.5.12: Shenzhen "only accepts the application for consignment of electric wheelchairs and electric equipment for increased mobility of passengers with limited movement due to disability, health or age", and such devices "can only be transported with the consent of Shenzhen Airlines". They may never be taken into the cabin, must be checked at the counter, and the passenger must be at the counter 2 h before the ordinary check-in deadline and at the airport at least 120 min before departure.

Lithium-ion batteries
Yes

Lithium-battery wheelchairs and mobility aids are expressly accepted, under conditions of carriage 6.2.5.12 and §5 of Shenzhen's Requirements on Carriage of Lithium Batteries.

Watt-hour cap — battery stays in the chair
No stated limit

Both documents say so explicitly: "there is no limit on the rated energy when the battery is installed on the wheelchair or walker" (conditions of carriage 6.2.5.12) and "There is no limit to the Wh rating of battery when the battery is installed on wheelchairs or mobility aids" (Requirements on Carriage of Lithium Batteries §5). The battery must be adequately protected against damage by design, securely attached, and the electrical circuits isolated per the manufacturer's instructions.

Watt-hour cap — battery removed into the cabin
300 Wh

"Each battery removed must not exceed 300 Wh." A battery is removed when it cannot simultaneously meet the three conditions of being firmly fixed, fully protected and disconnected, or where the manufacturer's instructions require removal. Removed lithium batteries must be carried in the passenger cabin, protected from damage (for example each in its own protective pouch).

300 Wh

"A passenger may carry a maximum of one spare lithium ion battery not exceeding 300 Wh or two spare batteries each not exceeding 160 Wh." Spares travel in the cabin, individually protected against damage.

Maximum of two: one spare of up to 300 Wh, or two spares of up to 160 Wh each. This is the wheelchair rule. Shenzhen's general portable-electronics rule (spares only in carry-on, max 20 per person, 100 Wh, or two spares of 100-160 Wh after check-in declaration and approval) is a separate allowance and is not applied here.

Battery must be removed
Conditional

Conditions of carriage 6.2.5.12: "When the battery of the wheelchair cannot meet the three conditions of being firmly fixed, fully protected, and disconnected at the same time, the battery should be removed." The lithium-battery instructions give the same either/or: leave it fitted with the circuits isolated per the manufacturer, or remove it per the manufacturer. Shenzhen's baggage rules additionally require removal for any non-leak-proof (spillable) battery.

Yes

Conditions of carriage 6.2.5.12: the checked electric wheelchair service applies to chairs with sealed wet batteries, nickel-metal-hydride batteries and dry batteries. A removed or spare battery of these types must be short-circuit protected, packed in sturdy rigid packaging and carried in the CARGO HOLD — unlike lithium batteries, which must travel in the cabin.

Wet / spillable batteries
Conditional

Shenzhen's two current documents conflict. Conditions of carriage 6.2.5.12 (V202607) says the checked electric wheelchair service applies to sealed wet, nickel-metal-hydride, dry and lithium batteries "but NOT to those equipped with unsealed batteries". Baggage rules 5.3.3 (also V202607) instead give a procedure for a "wheelchair with non-leak proof battery": remove the battery, give it leak-proof protective packaging and label it "BATTERY, WET, WHEELCHAIR", plus CORROSIVE and UPWARD labels. Confirm on 95361 before flying with a spillable battery.

"The two poles of the removed battery and spare batteries shall be insulated to prevent short circuit." Removed and spare lithium batteries travel in the cabin, each in an independent protective bag; removed and spare sealed-wet/NiMH/dry batteries travel in the hold in sturdy rigid short-circuit-proof packaging. A battery left on the chair must be securely attached with its circuits isolated per the manufacturer's instructions.

Shenzhen does not provide declared-value cover for checked baggage (conditions of carriage 6.2.6), so there is no way to insure a powered chair above the Montreal/Warsaw limits through the airline. Fleet detail. No cargo-hold door aperture or hold-compartment dimensions are published. What Shenzhen does publish, under the CAAC Measures for the Administration of Air Transport for Persons with Disabilities, is a per-aircraft-type cap on disabled passengers: 4 on B737-700/800/8 and A319/A320, 6 on the A330 (the published table gives one figure per aircraft type across the categories on-board-wheelchair passengers, service-dog passengers, unaccompanied visually impaired passengers and unaccompanied passengers with intellectual or mental disabilities).

Worth knowing

The single most useful figure here is that Shenzhen explicitly publishes NO watt-hour limit for a lithium battery that stays installed in the chair (300 Wh applies only to a battery that has been removed) — stated identically in conditions of carriage 6.2.5.12 (V202607) and in §5 of the Requirements on Carriage of Lithium Batteries. CONTRADICTIONS a human should re-check: (1) spillable batteries — the conditions of carriage say the checked electric wheelchair service does NOT apply to chairs with unsealed batteries, while the baggage rules 5.3.3 give a full acceptance procedure for a "wheelchair with non-leak proof battery"; (2) on-board (aisle) wheelchair — the disabled-passenger regulations say Shenzhen "is unable to provide on-board wheelchair (equipment) for the time being", yet the wheelchair page still sells it as a bookable service category and the same regulations table caps the number of "passengers with onboard wheelchair" per aircraft type; (3) notice — 36 h for boarding/on-board wheelchairs on the wheelchair page vs 48 h in the disabled-passenger regulations; (4) medical certificate validity — issued within 96 h on the English page, within 10 days on the Chinese page; (5) TRANSLATION ERROR: the English wheelchair page says a passenger's own wheelchair "should be checked in and calculated in the free baggage allowance", but the Chinese original says 不计算在免费行李额内 — NOT counted in the free baggage allowance — and every other Shenzhen document agrees it is free and outside the allowance. Also material: Shenzhen states that on international flights only off-board (ground) wheelchair passengers are accepted, other wheelchair types are not open, and that a route with a connecting-flight service accepts no wheelchair-passenger application at all. Shenzhen offers no declared-value cover for checked baggage. Shenzhen is an Air China group carrier and a Star Alliance member, but nothing here was taken from Air China's or any partner's pages.
