Who to contact

Transcribed from the airline’s own pages, exactly as it labels them.

At Casablanca Mohammed V the PRM meeting point is the "comptoir PHMR" in Terminal 1. The PRM page reproduces the US DOT disability hotline numbers (1-800-778-4838 voice / 1-800-455-9880 TTY) and the Aviation Consumer Protection Division address for flights to/from the USA under 14 CFR Part 382 — those are the DOT's lines, not Royal Air Maroc's, and RAM does not name a Complaints Resolution Official.

Powered wheelchairs & batteries

The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.

Powered chairs accepted
Yes

"Royal Air Maroc accepte les chaises roulantes, motorisées ou non", subject to the dimension rules. "Quelque soit le type de votre chaise roulante électrique, vous devrez l'enregistrer comme un bagage lors de votre enregistrement" — every electric chair must be checked in as baggage.

Lithium-ion batteries
Yes

"Fauteuil roulant à batteries au lithium : elles devront être retirées dans tous les cas et gardées protégées au niveau de la cabine sous votre responsabilité." Lithium chairs are accepted, but the battery always comes out and travels in the cabin in the passenger's care.

Watt-hour cap — battery stays in the chair
Not published

No watt-hour cap published for wheelchair batteries — and not applicable as written, since RAM requires lithium batteries to be removed in every case. RAM only asks you to declare the battery's power in watt-hours before the flight.

Watt-hour cap — battery removed into the cabin
Not published

Not published. RAM requires the lithium battery to be removed and carried in the cabin but publishes no Wh limit for it; the 100 Wh / 160 Wh figures on its dangerous-goods poster are written for portable electronic devices, not mobility aids.

Watt-hour cap — spare battery
Not published

Not published for mobility-aid spare batteries.

Spare batteries permittedmaximum number under any published configuration
Not published

RAM does not publish how many spare wheelchair batteries may be carried.

Battery must be removed
Conditional

Depends on battery chemistry: lithium — "elles devront être retirées dans tous les cas" and kept in the cabin; wet/spillable — removal only when the chair's upright position cannot be guaranteed; dry/non-spillable — may stay attached, securely fastened.

Non-spillable batteriesgel, AGM, sealed lead-acid, dry cell
Yes

Wet / spillable batteries
Yes

Wet (spillable) battery: it may stay attached to the chair, or be removed when the chair's upright position cannot be guaranteed. If it stays, it must be securely fastened with terminals disconnected and taped; if removed, it travels upright in a strong, rigid, leak-proof package with enough absorbent material to soak up all the liquid.

Terminal protection & immobilisation
Yes

Dry battery: terminals need not be disconnected if already in a battery container or insulated against short circuit. Wet battery left in place: "les bornes doivent être débranchées et isolées par bande adhésive pour éviter tout court-circuit"; if removed it must be protected from short circuit inside its packaging.

Paperwork the airline wants
Yes

"Il est donc impératif de nous informer, avant votre vol, du type de batterie utilisée (y compris si elle est sèche, humide, au lithium, etc.), de sa puissance (en Wattheures), ainsi que de la taille et du poids du fauteuil." RAM also asks you to bring the wheelchair manufacturer's instructions to the airport.

Size limit for a powered chairCargo-hold door opening — not a stated chair limit
109 cm wide · 84 cm high

Same per-aircraft table, headed "Dimensions des chaises roulantes", applying to chairs "motorisées ou non": B737-800/700 H 84 × W 122 cm; B737 MAX H 88,9 × W 121 cm; B787-8/900 H 170 × W 269 cm; E190 H 85 × W 109 cm. Introduced by "Le chargement en soute de votre chaise roulante doit répondre à certaines exigences" (loading your chair into the hold must meet certain requirements) — i.e. cargo-hold door apertures the chair must pass through, not a stated chair maximum. Tightest figures shown; RAM publishes no separate limit for powered chairs.

Weight limit for a powered chair
Not published

No weight limit published; the weight must be declared in advance.

Returned at the aircraft door
No

No distinction is made by chair type: the personal wheelchair may be used up to boarding and "vous sera ensuite restituée à la livraison de vos bagages" — returned at baggage claim.

Liquid-cell batteries are only carried when they power a wheelchair, and RAM says it may have to remove one for safety during transport. RAM applies per-flight PRM quotas: WCHR is unlimited, but (WCHC + half the WCHS count) is capped at B787 18, B767 18, B73G 7, B738/MAX 9, E190 5, ATR 4.

Manual wheelchairs

Manual chairs accepted
Yes

"Royal Air Maroc accepte les chaises roulantes, motorisées ou non, ainsi que les dispositifs d'aide aux déplacements, à condition d'être conformes à la réglementation en vigueur en matière de dimensions." Depending on size and weight, mobility aids are checked into the hold.

Folding chair may travel in the cabin
Not published

RAM does not publish whether a folding manual chair may be stowed in the cabin; it describes mobility aids as checked into the hold.

In-cabin stowage limit
Not published

No in-cabin wheelchair stowage dimensions published.

Size limit for a checked manual chairCargo-hold door opening — not a stated chair limit
109 cm wide · 84 cm high

Per-aircraft table RAM heads "Dimensions des chaises roulantes" / "Wheelchair Dimensions", introduced by "Le chargement en soute de votre chaise roulante doit répondre à certaines exigences": B737-800/700 H 84 × W 122 cm; B737 MAX H 88,9 × W 121 cm; B787-8/900 H 170 × W 269 cm; E190 H 85 × W 109 cm. These are cargo-hold door apertures, not stated chair maxima — the B787 row (170 × 269 cm) is the 787 forward cargo door, and no wheelchair is 269 cm wide. Recorded here are the tightest figures across the fleet (84 cm height, 109 cm width); RAM does not itself publish a fleet-wide chair maximum.

Weight limit for a manual chair
Not published

No weight limit published; RAM asks for the chair's weight in advance and says acceptance depends on dimensions and weight.

Returned at the aircraft door
No

"Vous pouvez le cas échéant disposer de votre chaise roulante personnelle jusqu'à l'embarquement. Elle vous sera ensuite restituée à la livraison de vos bagages" — you may keep your own chair up to boarding, but it is returned at baggage delivery, not at the aircraft door.

Your presence, or your companion's, is required while the device is dismantled and reassembled. RAM asks you to bring the manufacturer's instructions to the airport to prevent accidental activation.

Booking & cost

Advance notice requiredhours before scheduled departure

If they damage your chair
Not published

RAM publishes nothing specific about liability for damage to mobility aids on its reduced-mobility or baggage pages; damaged baggage is handled through the generic "Assistance bagages / Bagages endommagés" claim channel.

On board

On-board aisle chair
Not published

RAM does not publish whether an on-board aisle chair is available.

Accessible lavatory
Not published

Not published. RAM does state that its on-board assistance "n'inclut pas… l'assistance aux toilettes".

Crew help you transfer
Not published

Not published as a service. RAM's assistance is described as accompanying you from check-in to boarding and from the aircraft to your pick-up point, and it states that on-board assistance "n'inclut pas l'aide à l'alimentation, à la prise de médicaments ou l'assistance aux toilettes"; seat transfer is not mentioned either way.

Seating & movable armrests
Not published

RAM publishes nothing about movable armrests or bulkhead seating for passengers with reduced mobility.

Fleet detail. Per-aircraft figures RAM heads "Dimensions des chaises roulantes" / "Wheelchair Dimensions" (Height × Width): B737-800/700 84 × 122 cm; B737 MAX 88,9 × 121 cm; B787-8/900 170 × 269 cm; E190 85 × 109 cm. RAM does not label them, but they are cargo-hold door apertures rather than stated chair maxima: the B787-8/9 row is that type's forward cargo door (1,70 × 2,70 m) and no wheelchair is 269 cm wide, while 88,9 cm is exactly 35 inches — a door spec. Read them as the opening your chair must pass through on that aircraft type. Separate PRM quotas per flight: WCHC + half the WCHS count is capped at B787 18, B767 18, B73G 7, B738/MAX 9, E190 5, ATR 4; WCHR is unlimited.

Worth knowing

The French page is the fullest and was used as the primary source; the English page was cross-checked. WARNING: the English translation inverts the battery labels — French "batterie inversable / batterie sèche" (non-tippable = non-spillable, dry) is rendered "With spillable battery / dry battery", and "batterie non-inversable / batterie humide" (spillable, wet) becomes "With non spillable battery / wet battery". The French pairing is the internally consistent one and is what has been recorded. Two hard facts a traveller should know: RAM requires lithium batteries to be removed from the chair in every case and carried in the cabin under the passenger's own responsibility, and the chair is returned at baggage claim, not at the aircraft door. RAM publishes no watt-hour ceiling at all for wheelchair batteries. The per-aircraft dimension table is headed "Dimensions des chaises roulantes" / "Wheelchair Dimensions" on both language versions and is introduced by "Le chargement en soute de votre chaise roulante doit répondre à certaines exigences"; neither page uses the words hold door or compartment. It is nevertheless recorded with basis hold_door, because the figures are demonstrably cargo-door apertures and not chair maxima: the B787-8/9 row (170 × 269 cm) is that type's forward cargo door (1,70 × 2,70 m) and no wheelchair is 269 cm wide, and the B737 MAX figure of 88,9 cm is exactly 35 inches. Presenting them as max_device would tell a 787 passenger their chair may be 2,7 m wide. A human should still ask RAM whether the small-aircraft rows (E190 109 cm width, B737 84 cm height) are enforced as hard chair limits. Second FR/EN divergence: for deaf and hearing-impaired passengers the French page asks for notice "au moins 48 heures avant votre vol" while the English says "a few days before your flight". RAM also caps the number of WCHS/WCHC passengers per flight by aircraft type, so a late request can be refused for capacity reasons.
