Who to contact

Transcribed from the airline’s own pages, exactly as it labels them.

Rossiya publishes no dedicated disability desk, email address or TTY/relay service — requests go through the general contact centre or the feedback form. Its own page states that for SU 6001-6999 flights (the Aeroflot-numbered services Rossiya operates) special services are requested through Aeroflot's website, sales offices or contact centre.

Powered wheelchairs & batteries

The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.

Powered chairs accepted
Conditional

Prior approval and surrender at check-in: "Transportation is issued after the request confirmation", and "a wheelchair with electrical drive is mandatory to be handed to the baggage compartment at the check-in counter" — a powered chair may not be used to the gate. Battery disconnected and terminals insulated.

Lithium-ion batteries
Conditional

Accepted with prior confirmation: wheelchairs used by passengers with disabilities are an explicit exception to Rossiya's ban on lithium-ion batteries above 160 Wh. Battery must not exceed 300 Wh; if it can be removed it must be removed and carried in the cabin.

Watt-hour cap — battery stays in the chair
300 Wh

"Capacity of a lithium-ion battery of a wheelchair should not exceed 300Wh" (Мощность ионно-литиевой аккумуляторной батареи кресла-коляски не должна превышать 300 Втч). Carried installed in checked baggage the terminals must be protected against short circuit, the battery securely fastened in the device and the electrical circuits isolated.

Watt-hour cap — battery removed into the cabin
300 Wh

Baggage rules: "if it is possible to remove the battery — the battery must be removed, protected from short circuit by insulating the terminal, protected from damage (in protective packaging), carried in the passenger cabin, and the battery capacity must not exceed 300 Wh".

Spare batteries permittedmaximum number under any published configuration
2

Maximum two: "only one additional battery with a capacity not exceeding 300 Wh, or two additional batteries not exceeding 160 Wh each". The Russian disability page writes this as carriage "в багаже" (in baggage) while the baggage page requires removed and spare batteries to travel in the cabin — see notes.

Battery must be removed
Conditional

Only where the design allows: "If it is possible to remove the battery, then: the battery must be removed ... [and] the batteries must be carried in the passenger cabin." Otherwise the battery stays fastened in the chair in the hold with terminals protected and circuits isolated.

Non-spillable batteriesgel, AGM, sealed lead-acid, dry cell
Conditional

No provision by chemistry is published; a gel/AGM/dry-cell chair falls under the generic rule for a "wheelchair with electrical drive and a battery" — carriage issued only after the request is confirmed, the battery disconnected and the terminals insulated, chair checked at the check-in counter.

Wet / spillable batteries
Not published

Not published for mobility aids. Rossiya's generic prohibited-items list bans "corrosive substances such as acids, alkalis, wet-cell batteries" from the aircraft, but the wheelchair pages say nothing about spillable wheelchair batteries either way — ask the contact centre before travelling.

Terminal protection & immobilisation
Yes

"The battery must be disconnected, the battery terminals should be isolated to prevent short circuits." Passengers must bring "a set of keys / devices for disconnecting the battery terminals" plus ICAO Doc 9284-compliant packaging (factory packaging, plastic or cardboard box); the passenger or, at their request, handling staff under their supervision does the disconnection.

In-cabin stowage limit
Not published

No numeric cabin limit published — the only test given is whether the folded chair has "dimensions that allow you to safely place it in the cabin".

Size limit for a checked manual chair
Not published

Not published. The passenger must declare length, width and height folded (or actual size if it does not fold), but Rossiya states no maximum and no hold-door figures.

Weight limit for a manual chair
Not published

Not published. Rossiya asks the passenger to declare the chair's weight when requesting carriage but publishes no maximum.

Returned at the aircraft door
Conditional

Via the "Delivery at Aircraft" (DAA) tag, requested at check-in: the chair is checked but stays with the passenger to the aircraft and is returned at the aircraft door on arrival. The Russian page states DAA is NOT available at Dubai (DXB), Samara (KUF), Samarkand (SKD), Tashkent (TAS), Nizhny Novgorod (GOJ) on jet bridges, Bishkek (FRU) or Ulan-Ude (UUD).

On board

On-board aisle chair
Yes

"An onboard wheelchair, which is necessary for moving through the cabin to the lavatory room, does not require a pre-order and is available on all flights of Rossiya Airlines."

Accessible lavatory
Not published

Not published. Rossiya says the on-board chair reaches the lavatory but makes no claim about an accessible lavatory on any aircraft type.

Crew help you transfer
Yes

Airport handling staff escort a wheelchair user "to the seat in the cabin", using an ambulift where the passenger cannot move independently, and boarding is before general boarding. But airline personnel "does not provide medical help, care, feeding of passengers, hygiene manipulations, passenger movement (associated with their carriage)" — no lifting or toilet assistance in flight.

Seating & movable armrests
Seat assigned to suit the passenger's needs on request; never in exit rows; shoulder harness only where technically available

"A passenger with disabilities is provided with a seat upon request and free at the time of the call when checking in" and "passengers with disabilities are not provided with seats in blocks of seats nearby emergency exits". A back-support shoulder belt is "not guaranteed" — only where technically possible on Aeroflot/Rossiya flights to/from Sheremetyevo and Pulkovo. Individual emergency briefing is given.

Worth knowing

Rossiya publishes a full PRM page in Russian with an English translation; both were read and quotations here are from the English version unless marked. Three things a human should re-check. (1) The "Delivery at Aircraft" exclusion lists differ between languages: the Russian page lists Dubai, Samara (KUF), Samarkand, Tashkent, Nizhny Novgorod (jet bridges), Bishkek and Ulan-Ude; the English page lists Hamburg (HAM) instead of Samara — the English list looks stale. (2) The disability page says a spare wheelchair battery may be carried "в багаже" (in baggage) while the baggage page requires removed and spare batteries to travel in the passenger cabin; the cabin rule is the safe reading. (3) Most Rossiya flying is done as Aeroflot-numbered SU 6001-6999 services, and Rossiya's own page directs those passengers to Aeroflot's website/contact centre for special-service requests and to Aeroflot's department for damage claims — so a traveller may be handled entirely by Aeroflot despite booking FV. Hard points for power-chair users: the chair must be surrendered at the check-in counter (no gate check, no DAA tag for powered chairs), the passenger must carry their own tools to disconnect the battery terminals and ICAO-compliant battery packaging, and the lithium cap is 300 Wh. Rossiya recommends arriving 4 hours before departure.
