Red Sea Airlines

IATA 4S ICAO RSX Egypt · redseaairlines.com (opens in a new tab)

Publishes nothing about carrying a passenger’s own wheelchair. You have to ask them.

Red Sea Airlines publishes no mobility-aid policy. Its website works and we read it, but it says nothing about carrying a passenger’s own manual or powered wheelchair — no battery rules, no size limits, no notice period. That silence is the finding, and it is why almost every field below is blank. Silence is not permission. Ask them directly, get the answer in writing, and read the international baseline so you know what should apply.

Who to contact

Transcribed from the airline’s own pages, exactly as it labels them.

There is no disability desk, no special-assistance email, no assistance-request form and no TTY/relay. The site's whole Information menu is About Us, Baggage, Transportation of Pets, Traveling While Pregnant, Services, Before Check-in and Contacts — nothing on disability. A wheelchair user has to phone or email the general sales channel. Head office: 8 Mokhtar Saeid, Golf Land, Misr El Gedida, Cairo, Egypt.

Powered wheelchairs & batteries

The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.

Powered chairs accepted
Not published

Not published. Powered wheelchairs are not mentioned. The prohibited-items list bans 'power banks/batteries' from both carry-on and checked baggage, then adds that power banks must travel in hand luggage with short-circuit protection; no exception for mobility-aid batteries is stated either way.

The prohibited-items list on the Before Check-in page bans 'power banks/batteries' outright in both cabin and hold before immediately qualifying that power banks must be carried in hand luggage. Taken literally it would ban every battery; in practice it is aimed at power banks. Either way the airline gives a power-chair user nothing to rely on and the battery must be cleared by phone before travel.

Manual wheelchairs

Returned at the aircraft door
Not published

Not published. Nothing is said about where a checked mobility aid is returned.

The airline does publish special-category rules for pregnant passengers (indemnity form; 'fit to fly' certificate valid 7 days for weeks 29-36) and for pets, so the absence of any disability content is a gap in the published rules rather than a bare site.

Worth knowing

VERDICT RE-VERIFIED 2026-07-29 and CONFIRMED: Red Sea Airlines (4S / RSX, Egypt) publishes nothing at all about wheelchairs, mobility aids, disability assistance or mobility-aid batteries. This is now proven from the airline's own content API rather than inferred from browsing. DOCUMENT CLASSES CHECKED. (1) CONDITIONS OF CARRIAGE: none exists. The site's CMS index — GET /api/v1/public/page-contents, the same endpoint the website itself uses to build its Information menu — returns exactly EIGHT content pages and no more: About Us, Baggage, Transportation of Pets, Traveling While Pregnant, Services, Before Check-in, Terms Of Use, Privacy Policy. 'Terms Of Use' is a website terms-of-use agreement ('The Site provides the following services: IT Software'), not a contract of carriage. More tellingly, the airline's own configuration (GET /api/v1/public/site-values) contains a slot named BAGS_CARRIAGE_RULES_LINK whose value is an EMPTY STRING — the carriage-rules link has never been filled in. (2) DANGEROUS GOODS / RESTRICTED ITEMS: the only such page is 'Before Check-in', which lists prohibited items and states 'Power banks/batteries' are not permitted in either carry-on or checked baggage, then immediately adds 'Power banks must only be transported in hand luggage, adhering to short-circuit protection requirements.' It says nothing about wheelchair batteries, watt-hours, non-spillable or lithium chair batteries, and the two sentences contradict each other. Nothing has been inferred from it about wheelchairs. (3) SPECIAL / SPORTS BAGGAGE: the Baggage page gives only one checked bag at 203 cm total dimensions and 15 or 20 kg by fare, 5 kg hand baggage, and a lost/damaged claims route; 'Extra baggage and sports equipment' attract fees but there is no mobility-aid exemption and no special-baggage page. (4) FAQ / ACCESSIBILITY PAGE: none. /content/special-assistance, /accessibility, /reduced-mobility, /passengers-with-disabilities, /special-needs, /medical, /dangerous-goods, /conditions-of-carriage, /faq, /disability and /mobility all resolve to the SPA's 'Page not found' view (HTTP 200 with a 404 body — the sitemap.xml lists only 12 URLs and none of them is an accessibility page). (5) HOME-LANGUAGE (ARABIC) VERSION: there is none. /ar and /ar/content/baggage are hard 404s; ?lang=ar returns the identical English page; the HTML declares lang="en" only and carries no hreflang alternates; GET /api/v1/public/airline/locales is not publicly readable, and the airline config exposes no locale list. The Russian variant checked in the previous pass likewise returns English content. (6) THE BOOKING ENGINE ITSELF: all 158 JavaScript bundles of the booking application were downloaded and searched. The strings 'wheelchair', 'WCHR', 'WCHS', 'WCHC', 'reduced mobility' and 'disability' appear NOWHERE in the front end. The passenger step does render a 'Special assistance services' picker (translation key general.special_assistance_services in passenger-form-*.js) whose options are fetched per flight from GET /api/v1/public/ssr/find?flightIds=…, and the control is hidden entirely when that list is empty. So a special-service request MAY be selectable at booking, but the catalogue is server-side and per-flight, it cannot be read without a live flight ID, and nothing on the website tells a traveller what can be requested. No policy value in this record has been taken from it. The 'Meet and Assist Services… including ramp assistance and fast track' on the Services page is a paid ancillary for any passenger, not a disability service, and is not recorded as an assistance channel. Identity confirmed against IATA's member record (Red Sea Airlines, Egypt, 4S / RSX). Note the name collision with an unrelated defunct carrier of the same name. A wheelchair user has no option but to clear the chair and its battery by phone (+20 102 9993822) or email (sales@redseaairlines.com) before booking, and to get the answer in writing.
