Who to contact

Transcribed from the airline’s own pages, exactly as it labels them.

No disability-specific desk, email or web form is published — the general country call centres are the only published channel, and the special-baggage page directs powered-wheelchair users to them. Paranair publishes a complaints form (Formulario de Reclamos) but no assistance-request form.

Powered wheelchairs & batteries

The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.

Powered chairs accepted

"Sillas de ruedas eléctricas y medios auxiliares de movilidad" are listed as special baggage requiring prior physical inspection of the item and its packing by the traffic or ramp agent, and passengers must "contáctese con nuestro Call Center para validar las opciones de poder transportar estos equipajes especiales y su coste asociado" — i.e. carriage and cost are validated case by case before travel.

Lithium-ion batteries
Not published

Not published for wheelchairs. Paranair's prohibited-items page says "Baterías de litio" may not be carried in checked baggage at all, and adds "Dispositivos electrónicos" and "Artículos que produzcan calor" to the same list, but never says how any of that applies to a powered wheelchair. Paranair has no dangerous-goods page; the contract only defines "Mercancías Peligrosas" by reference to ICAO and IATA. Ask the Call Center before booking.

Not published — Paranair does not say whether a wheelchair battery must be removed. Its prohibited-items page bans lithium batteries from checked baggage generally but says nothing about wheelchair batteries.

Paranair's prohibited-items page lists "Baterías de litio" among the items that may not be carried in checked baggage, alongside cash, jewellery and electronic devices; the page does not address wheelchair batteries, so a lithium-powered chair must be cleared with the Call Center in advance.

FAQ, "¿Qué debo hacer si viajo con mi propia silla de ruedas?": notify Paranair when booking or at least 25 hours before departure. Note that the special-baggage page also lists "medios auxiliares de movilidad" among items that need a physical inspection of the item and its packing by the traffic or ramp agent, and asks passengers to validate carriage with the Call Center first.

Folding chair may travel in the cabin
Not published

Not published — Paranair says nothing about stowing a folding wheelchair in the cabin. Its only cabin-baggage rule (contrato de transporte §7) is one 5 kg piece of 45 x 20 x 35 cm, which is a general hand-baggage limit and not a wheelchair rule.

Not published — no in-cabin wheelchair stowage space or dimensions are given.

Size limit for a checked manual chair
Not published

Not published for wheelchairs. The 128 cm total (alto x ancho x largo) figure in the contrato de transporte is the general checked-bag limit, not a stated wheelchair limit, so it is deliberately not recorded here.

Weight limit for a manual chair
Not published

Not published for mobility aids. The general checked allowance (contrato de transporte §7, and the Equipaje page) is one piece up to 23 kg, with USD 70 (direct) / USD 80 (connecting) charged for anything between 23 and 32 kg; Paranair never says a wheelchair is exempt, and publishes no ceiling above 32 kg for any single item.

Returned at the aircraft door

Not published — nothing about returning the chair at the aircraft door. The FAQ only offers an airport wheelchair "desde y hacia el acceso a nuestras aeronaves" (to and from the access to our aircraft).

Wheelchairs and mobility aids are handled as "equipajes especiales" — items that "por sus características, merecen un tratamiento diferenciado de los demás equipajes, previa inspección física del objeto y su embalaje por parte del agente de tráfico o personal de rampa" (require differentiated handling after physical inspection of the item and its packing by the traffic agent or ramp staff).

Booking & cost

Advance notice requiredhours before scheduled departure
72h

Contrato de transporte §8: special services must be requested when booking or "hasta setenta y dos (72) horas antes de la salida del vuelo" (up to 72 hours before departure); the list of special services includes "Solicitud de silla de ruedas" and "Asistencia a personas con algún tipo de discapacidad". The FAQ separately says that if you travel with your own wheelchair you must notify Paranair when booking or "por lo menos 25 horas antes de la salida de su vuelo" (at least 25 hours before departure).

FAQ: "Infórmenos sobre sus requerimientos al momento de realizar la reserva". Charge for carrying the aid
Not published

Paranair nowhere states that mobility aids are carried free. Contrato de transporte §8: "Ciertos servicios especiales tendrán un costo adicional establecido por el Transportista", and the special-baggage page tells passengers to call the Call Center to confirm the "coste asociado" of carrying an electric wheelchair or mobility aid. The published fee schedule (Tarifas de equipaje: USD 70/80 for a bag over 23 kg up to 32 kg, USD 60/70 for an extra 23 kg bag) has no mobility-aid line and no free-carriage exemption.

International: Montreal Convention limit of 1,519 SDR (DEG) per passenger for baggage; Paraguayan domestic: 3.5 minimum daily wages per kg

Contrato de transporte, Limitación de la Responsabilidad: under the Montreal Convention "la responsabilidad del Transportista se encuentra limitada a 1.519 DEG por pasajero" unless a special declaration of value is made; for Paraguayan domestic (cabotaje) carriage the CAP limits baggage liability to "tres y medio jornales mínimos por kilogramo". No mobility-aid rule is published, and §7 "Elementos No Amparados" disclaims liability for "Computadoras y equipos electrónicos de cualquier naturaleza" and "Medicamentos" in either checked or hand baggage.

Debido a la naturaleza operativa, ciertos servicios especiales pudieran no estar disponibles para una determinada ruta" — assistance may be unavailable on a given route.

Seating & movable armrests
Not published

No movable-armrest, bulkhead or accessible-seat policy is published. Two related rules exist: pregnant passengers may not be seated in emergency-exit rows, and contrato de transporte §9 gives "Pasajeros discapacitados" first priority when seats are reassigned in an oversale, ahead of unaccompanied minors and frequent flyers.

Fleet detail. Paranair's published fleet is a single type, the Bombardier CRJ 200 (Flota page: 27 m long, 6 m high, 21 m wingspan); no hold, hold-door or bulk-compartment dimensions are published anywhere on the site.

Worth knowing

DEEPENING PASS (2026-07-29, second sweep): the whole site was enumerated from Paranair's Yoast sitemap index (sitemap_index.xml → page-sitemap.xml, ~230 URLs, almost all country clones of the same 30 pages). There is no dangerous-goods page, no mobility-aid page and no special-assistance page anywhere on paranair.com — the four pages already cited are all there is, so the battery blank is confirmed rather than unfound. The English (/en-us/) versions of the baggage, special-equipment, prohibited-items and contract pages all 302-redirect to a Spanish home page, so the English site is effectively broken and Spanish is the only usable language. Newly extracted: the published baggage-fee schedule has no mobility-aid line; contract §9 gives disabled passengers first priority for seat reassignment in an oversale; and contract §7 "Elementos No Amparados" disclaims liability for electronic equipment of any kind and for medicines carried in checked or hand baggage — directly relevant to anyone checking a powered chair. Paranair (Compañía de Aviación Paraguaya S.A.) addresses wheelchairs in three places and never in detail: the FAQ (notify at booking or at least 25 h ahead; airport wheelchair provided to and from aircraft access), the special-baggage page (electric wheelchairs and mobility aids need physical inspection and prior Call Center validation "y su coste asociado") and the contract of carriage (§8, special services requested at booking or up to 72 h before, may carry an extra cost, and may be unavailable on a given route). Nothing at all is published about wheelchair batteries — while the prohibited-items page bans lithium batteries from checked baggage outright, which a powered-chair user must resolve with the Call Center before booking. Two published notice deadlines conflict (25 h in the FAQ vs 72 h in the contract); the strictest, 72 h, is recorded. The site footer reads "Copyright © 2021" and the COVID-19 measures page is still in the main menu, so a human should re-check how current this content is.
