Fragments only. Pakistan International Airlines publishes some assistance information but not a full mobility-aid policy. What is below is everything it actually states. Everything marked “not published” genuinely is — confirm it with the airline rather than assuming the international baseline applies.

10 of the unanswered fields below share one explanation: PIA publishes no battery rules for mobility aids. Its baggage guide lists wet-cell batteries among restricted corrosives in ordinary baggage but says nothing about wheelchair batteries; ICAO/IATA defaults apply — see global rules. The rest carry their own.
Powered wheelchairs & batteries
The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.
Not published: PIA's special-assistance page (March 2025 capture) still says nothing about powered wheelchairs or mobility scooters, and the Conditions of Carriage (April 2025 capture) do not mention them either. PIA's own Accessibility Plan 2023-2026 lists "Battery operated Wheelchair or mobility aid" as information to be added to the website by 1 June 2024; nearly a year past that deadline no such page existed on the site or in the archive.

PIA's Accessibility Plan 2023-2026 commits to publishing battery-operated wheelchair guidance and to procuring aisle chairs and wheelchairs meeting accessibility standards; as of the last readable copy of the site (June 2024) the guidance had not appeared.
Manual wheelchairs
Not published: PIA's special-assistance page describes airport and in-flight wheelchair assistance but does not set out rules for carrying a passenger's own manual wheelchair as baggage. Its Accessibility Plan asserts that information on "transportation of wheelchairs and other assistive devices and mobility aids" is available on the website and in the conditions of carriage — the Conditions of Carriage were read in full (April 2025 capture) and Article 8 (Baggage) says nothing whatsoever about wheelchairs or mobility aids, so that commitment remains unmet.

Not published for wheelchairs. PIA does publish a rule for walking aids: "Walking canes, frames, and crutches may be carried in the aircraft cabin, provided they are stowed in accordance with cabin safety requirements. If your walking frame is collapsible and cabin crew can stow it safely, it can also be carried in the aircraft cabin. For safety reasons, non-collapsible walking frames are not permitted in the aircraft cabin and will have to be checked-in."

Not published for wheelchairs. For walking frames PIA says: "You can use your frame to the departure gate where it can be surrendered for priority stowage in the aircraft cargo hold" — it does not say the aid is returned at the gate on arrival.

PIA states there is "no limit on the number of passengers with a disability which may travel on a flight", and that a safety assistant may be required if a passenger cannot assist in their own evacuation, is on a stretcher or in an incubator, cannot comprehend safety instructions, or has severe combined hearing and vision impairment.
Booking & cost
Conditions of Carriage (April 2025): if you cannot "move around or evacuate the aircraft cabin unassisted" or "have special needs requiring special equipment", the booking must be made through a local PIA office at least 72 hours before departure (doctor's report or MEDIF) or 96 hours (FREMEC), with prior medical-department clearance at ticketing (Arts 5.1.3, 7.3.2, 7.5.1); USA rules may differ. Other lead times: unlisted postural support equipment 7 days; Canada requests relayed 24-36 hours ahead, also taken at check-in or the gate.

"PIA offers special assistance services for passengers with special needs that can be requested through its website, at the time of booking, or through Call Centre, at the time of Check-in." Wheelchairs and airport check-in assistance are provided by ground staff on request.

Not published for wheelchairs: PIA states only that "passenger-supplied PSE [postural support equipment] will be carried free of charge" and does not say whether a wheelchair or other mobility aid is carried free or outside the baggage allowance. Article 8 of the Conditions of Carriage (April 2025 capture) sets out the free baggage allowance and excess-baggage charges in general terms and makes no exception or mention for mobility aids.

On board PIA provides "assistance in moving to and from seats", "help in preparation for eating" and "assistance in use of inflight wheelchair to and from the lavatory door". It cannot help with eating/drinking, medication, elimination functions including inside the lavatory, or other personal care.

"We offer priority seating for passengers with a disability and will do our best to allocate you a seat that is most suitable to your needs." Passengers whose mobility would make evacuation unsafe are not seated where they would obstruct exits, crew, emergency equipment or evacuation. No movable-armrest information is published.

Worth knowing
The live PIA site is unreadable: www.piac.com.pk, piac.com.pk and http:// all returned Cloudflare 403 / "Just a moment..." challenges via direct fetch and via the r.jina.ai reader (including --render 25 and --render 40) on 2026-07-29; the PDF paths are behind the same wall, piac.aero does not respond, and Wayback's Save Page Now returned HTTP 520. Everything here therefore comes from Internet Archive snapshots of PIA's own pages — but the snapshots have been dragged forward from February/June 2024 to the newest readable captures: Special Assistance 23 March 2025, Special Assistance Form 26 February 2025, Baggage Guide 7 February 2025, Conditions of Carriage 11 April 2025, Accessibility Plan PDF 2 December 2024 (byte-identical to the June 2024 capture, so the plan was unchanged). TREAT EVERY FIGURE AS 15-17 MONTHS OLD. The 2025 captures were compared line by line against the 2024 text and nothing had changed. NEW THIS PASS: PIA's Conditions of Carriage (Articles 5.1.2, 5.1.3, 7.3.2, 7.5.1, 7.5.4) require a passenger who cannot move around or evacuate the cabin unassisted, or who needs special equipment, to book through a local PIA office at least 72 hours before departure (medical report or MEDIF) or 96 hours (FREMEC) and to obtain prior clearance from PIA's medical department at the time of ticketing — a material approval barrier that the special-assistance page never mentions; Article 7.3.4 says USA rules may differ. ALSO: a PIA "Accessibility Progress Report 2025" exists at https://www.piac.com.pk/images/pdfs/PIA_Accessibility_Progress%20_Report_2025.pdf (surfaced by a search engine) but is behind the same Cloudflare wall and has never been captured by the Internet Archive, so it could not be read; the accessibility-plan landing page as of 7 February 2025 still linked only the 2023-2026 plan. A human with an unblocked connection should read that progress report — the 2023-2026 plan is in its final year and its outstanding commitment to publish battery-operated wheelchair guidance may have been met there. Third-party Pakistani press reported in April 2026 that PIA suspended the 40%/20% disability discount; that is not confirmed on any PIA page readable here, so the discount is reported below only as it stood in the March 2025 capture and must be re-checked. What PIA published then covers airport and in-flight assistance, in-flight wheelchairs on all aircraft, postural support equipment (carried free, 7 days' notice for unlisted models), walking canes/frames/crutches, safety-assistant rules, US DOT 14 CFR 382 compliance and Canadian ATPDR service commitments. It publishes NOTHING on carrying a personal wheelchair as baggage, no size or weight limits, and no battery rules of any kind — PIA's own Accessibility Plan 2023-2026 lists "Battery operated Wheelchair or mobility aid" as content still to be added to the website by 1 June 2024. PIA also offers a 40% fare discount to passengers with disabilities and 20% to an accompanying attendant, available only at PIA counters/sales offices on presentation of a disability ID card. A human should re-check every contact number once the site is reachable. 2026-07-30: the Accessibility Plan PDF was supplied by a human, replacing an archive-only record. It is a Canadian-regulatory compliance document under the Accessible Canada Act and the ATPRR, not a carriage policy: it lists commitments and timelines (a WCAG 2.0 website by June 2024, alternative formats — print and large print within 15 days, Braille and audio within 45 days, procurement of boarding ramps and aisle chairs) and names the feedback channels, but states no wheelchair battery rule, watt-hour figure, dimension or weight limit. PIA confirms it is bound by Parts 1, 2 and 7 of SOR/2019-244 as a large foreign carrier. It says a consolidated Special Assistance Services page covering battery-operated wheelchairs was due on the website by 1 June 2024; that consolidated page is what a traveller actually needs and it could not be read.
