Luxair

Electric chairs are carried, but "Battery-powered wheelchairs may be dangerous for aviation and can only be carried under the following conditions" and "All lithium batteries require prior approval from Luxair", with UN 38.3 evidence produced at booking or check-in. The published size/weight and battery-count tables must be met or Luxair may refuse the chair.

Removed batteries travel in the cabin and are capped at 300 Wh: ">160Wh and max 300Wh: A maximum of 2 batteries may be transported in cabin (1 removed battery from the wheelchair + 1 spare battery)." For >100–160 Wh, up to 4 in the cabin (2 removed + 2 spare). ">300Wh: Those batteries are not allowed to be transported in cabin."

One spare of up to 300 Wh, or two spares of up to 160 Wh each. The restricted-items page states it identically: "A passenger may carry a maximum of one spare lithium ion battery not exceeding 300 WH (total 2 batteries) or two spare batteries each not exceeding 160 WH (total 4 batteries)." Spares over 300 Wh may not be carried in the cabin.

Maximum of two spare lithium batteries, each not exceeding 160 Wh; if the spare is over 160 Wh and up to 300 Wh, only one is permitted. Dry-cell chairs may carry 2 protected spares in the hold; wet non-spillable, 1 spare in the hold.

Not required for lithium, dry-cell or wet non-spillable batteries — Luxair allows them to travel securely attached to the chair in the hold and only limits how many. Removing the battery into the cabin is the alternative. Spillable batteries cannot be carried at all.

"Wet non-spillable batteries are not allowed to be transported in cabin. A maximum of 2 batteries may be transported in cargo hold. (1 securely attached battery to the wheelchair + 1 spare battery protected from short circuits not attached to the wheelchair)" Carriage is not automatic: you must send Luxair the chair's brand, type, weight, dimensions and battery details "to get your own wheelchair confirmed for transportation", and Luxair "reserves the right to refuse any wheelchairs for security reasons if the maximum dimension, weight or battery power are not respected."

"Battery terminals securely attached to the wheelchair or mobility aid must be protected from short circuits and must be prepared for transport to prevent unintentional activation. Any spare or removed battery from the wheelchair or mobility aid must be carried in a strong, rigid packaging and must be protected from damage and short circuits."

"Lithium batteries must satisfy the demands of the 'UN Manual of Tests and Criteria', Part III, subsection 38.3 (evidence must be produced when booking or checking in at the airport by means of a manufacturer's certificate or a separate written confirmation)." Luxair also asks you to "have your wheelchair confirmation in paper or electronic form by hand" at the airport.

Boeing / De Havilland Q400: 110 x 115 x 110 cm up to 59 kg, 110 x 115 x 86 cm for 60–150 kg. Height measured with the seat back tilted to its minimum.

Own manual wheelchairs are carried free of charge and in addition to the free baggage allowance, with 48 h notice — but Luxair decides: you must send brand, type, weight, dimensions and battery details "to get your own wheelchair confirmed for transportation", and "Luxair reserves the right to refuse any wheelchairs for security reasons if the maximum dimension, weight or battery power are not respected." Weight must not exceed 150 kg and the per-fleet size tables apply. For reasons of space, wheelchairs are carried in the hold.

"For reasons of space, wheelchairs are carried in the hold." Luxair describes no in-cabin stowage for a folding manual chair; it only suggests keeping loose parts (pressure-relief cushions, movable footrest, joystick) in the cabin or in checked baggage.

"Please also note that the weight of your wheelchair must not exceed 150 kg." The published table bands chairs 1–59 kg and 60–150 kg; the heavier band is allowed less height (86 cm instead of 110 cm) on the Boeing and Q400 fleet.

Report damage immediately at the destination baggage service desk (a Damage Property Report is raised); if you have left the airport you have 7 days, with boarding pass, a photo of the still-attached bag tag and photos of the damage. "WCHC - Wheelchair assistance into aircraft seat" is offered and "In all cases where assistance is required, Luxair will arrange to take the passenger to and from the aircraft." But "our cabin crew is not trained to lift passengers", and crew give no help with eating, drinking, medication or the restroom — passengers who cannot manage these are advised to travel with a companion.
