LATAM publishes no email address for special assistance on the Colombian site — requests go through the Contact Center or the WhatsApp virtual assistant. The only line explicitly aimed at passengers with a disability is LATAM Brasil's hearing/speech-difficulty number, listed on the Colombian contact-centre page; there is no Colombian equivalent.

Powered wheelchairs & batteries

The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.

Powered chairs accepted
Yes

"Si viajas con tu silla de ruedas con bateria de litio, puedes transportarla si usa una bateria que no supere los 300 Wh o 2 baterias que no superen los 160 Wh cada una." Practical restriction: if you travel with your own battery-powered chair you can only get your boarding pass at the airport counter (except from Brazil, where web/app check-in is available).

Lithium-battery wheelchairs are accepted within the published watt-hour limits, with the batteries fixed to the chair.

"…puedes transportarla si usa una bateria que no supere los 300 Wh o 2 baterias que no superen los 160 Wh cada una. En ambos casos, las baterias tienen que estar fijas a la silla de ruedas." So: one battery up to 300 Wh, or two of up to 160 Wh each, in both cases fixed to the chair.

Watt-hour cap — battery removed into the cabin
Not published

Not published — LATAM requires the batteries to stay fixed to the wheelchair and describes no removed-battery route, so no removed-battery watt-hour cap exists on the site.

Watt-hour cap — spare battery
Not published

No watt-hour cap is published for spares. LATAM instead caps a spare at "8 gramos de litio" (8 g lithium content) and requires the capacity to be shown on the battery label.

LATAM permits spare batteries as cabin baggage but publishes no maximum number: "puedes llevar baterias de repuesto como equipaje de cabina cumpliendo algunos requisitos" — wrapped or in their original container, terminals taped, each in a separate protective case or bag, not exceeding 8 g of lithium.

Returned at the aircraft door
Not published

Not published — LATAM does not say where a powered wheelchair is returned on arrival.

Check-in restriction: "Si llevas tu propia silla de ruedas motorizada con baterias, solo podras obtener tu tarjeta de embarque en el aeropuerto" — powered-chair users cannot check in online except when departing from Brazil. Note LATAM's spare-battery cap is expressed in grams of lithium (8 g), not in watt-hours, which does not map cleanly onto a Wh rating printed on most chair batteries.

Companion rule: a passenger with a severe physical or cognitive disability, or a medical condition limiting autonomy, is asked verbally whether they can communicate with the crew about safety, use the seatbelt / lifejacket / oxygen mask, reach an emergency exit, eat and use the lavatory unaided. If they declare they cannot do any one of these, they must travel with a companion aged 18+ seated next to them in the same cabin. Passengers travelling with an orthopaedic positioning device may not be seated in an emergency-exit row.

Fleet detail. LATAM does not publish a single hold limit. It refers travellers to per-aircraft cargo-door dimensions and movable-armrest seat maps in its fleet section (https://www.latamairlines.com/co/es/sobre-latam/flota). At remote stands, boarding of a passenger who needs a wheelchair is done by Ambulift or Stairtrac depending on the airport.

Worth knowing

Sourcing note: LATAM Airlines Colombia (4C, formerly Aires) does not run a separate website. latamairlines.com/co/es is the Colombian country site — it is branded 'Latam Colombia', names LATAM Colombia's own Contact Center numbers, and is where tickets on 4C-operated flights are sold and served, so it has been treated as the subsidiary's own site rather than as an imported parent-group policy. The content is nonetheless group-wide LATAM policy localised for Colombia, and several passages describe Brazil-only variations (Meet and Assist, web check-in for powered chairs, the hearing/speech line, mandatory medical certificate when travelling with a companion from Brazil) that do not apply in Colombia. Codeshare caveat published by LATAM: "Si alguno de tus vuelos es operado por otra aerolinea, deberas solicitar el servicio directamente con ellos." Two things a human should re-check: (1) the spare-battery limit is published as 8 grams of lithium, not watt-hours, which is unusual and hard for a traveller to apply — left as null in the Wh field rather than converted; (2) 13 x 36 x 42 inches is quoted for the cabin-stowed folding chair without saying which figure is height, width or length. LATAM also runs the Sunflower hidden-disabilities lanyard programme (free lanyards at special-assistance check-in counters, subject to stock) and gives priority baggage delivery on international flights and on domestic flights within Brazil, Peru and Chile — not, notably, within Colombia.
