DAN AIR publishes NO accessibility phone number and NO e-mail address — not on the special assistance page, not in the footer, not in the conditions of carriage, not in the privacy policy. Every route to the airline is the single web form at danair.ro/en/contact, which the conditions of carriage themselves give as the address of the 'Customer Support Department' and of the baggage-claim department. The form's request categories are fixed and none is disability or assistance; a wheelchair query goes under 'General information'. Registered office: DAN AIR S.R.L., Str. Gârlei nr. 190A, Bucharest sector 1, Romania (EUID J40/4944/2017, VAT RO37359977). The live contact page sits behind a Cloudflare bot wall, so the list of request categories was read from an Internet Archive snapshot of 6 August 2024 — two years old, and a human should confirm nothing has been added since. That wall was re-tested in full on 2026-07-29 with a repaired fetcher (three attempts at --render 40 spaced 20 s apart, plus --render 25, a plain direct fetch, the r.jina.ai reader proxy, www and apex, the trailing-slash and no-/en/ variants, the Romanian /ro/contact path, and Google's translation proxy): every one returned Cloudflare's 'Performing security verification' interstitial or HTTP 403, while every other page on danair.ro loaded first time — the block is specific to /contact, not to the site. A CDX query (limit=-12, no collapse) confirms 2024-08-06 is the newest capture of the page that exists. What can be confirmed live today is that the contact form is still the route DAN AIR points you to: the Flight-or-baggage-irregularities page (s9) names its 'Schedule irregularities - rescheduling requests', 'Schedule irregularities - Refund requests' and 'baggage claim' sections.

Powered wheelchairs & batteries
The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.
Accepted case by case, not automatically: 'If you need to transport an electric wheelchair, it needs to be IATA approved. If you are not sure about the approval you should contact our Customer Support Team and provide us the brand name and model, battery type, battery details (capacity, voltage) so we can check if the item is safe for transport.' The prohibited-items list bans 'Lithium ion battery-powered vehicles (including segways and hoverboards) other than any wheelchair or mobility equipment that meets our regulations'.

Accepted only if the chair 'meets our regulations': the prohibited list bans 'Lithium ion battery-powered vehicles (including segways and hoverboards) other than any wheelchair or mobility equipment that meets our regulations', and an electric wheelchair 'needs to be IATA approved', with brand, model, battery type, capacity and voltage submitted to Customer Support for a safety check. No watt-hour figure of any kind is published.

Not published — DAN AIR states no watt-hour limit for a battery that stays in the chair; it says only that the device must be IATA approved and cleared by Customer Support.
Not published — DAN AIR states no watt-hour limit for a removed wheelchair battery.
Not published — DAN AIR states no watt-hour limit for a spare battery.
Not published as a number. DAN AIR says only that 'Lithium batteries or rechargeable lithium batteries ... can only be transported in the cabin baggage' and that 'spare lithium batteries will be carried as cabin baggage in the passenger cabin to enable the crew to react quickly in the event of an incident'. No count is given and no wheelchair-spare rule exists.

Not published for wheelchairs. The conditions of carriage require the battery of a portable electronic device to be detached if the device travels in the hold, and refuse PEDs with non-removable batteries, but DAN AIR does not say that this rule applies to a wheelchair.

Not published — DAN AIR never mentions gel, AGM, sealed lead-acid or dry-cell wheelchair batteries.
Not published for mobility aids. DAN AIR's generic prohibited-items list names 'Toxic or infectious substances (for example, acids and alkalis, "wet" batteries ...)' and 'Corrosives, including mercury, vehicle batteries', but it does not say whether a wet-cell wheelchair battery falls under that ban or under the case-by-case IATA-approval route. Ask before travelling.

Not published — DAN AIR gives no terminal-insulation, disconnection or immobilisation instruction for a wheelchair battery.
'If you need to transport an electric wheelchair, it needs to be IATA approved. If you are not sure about the approval you should contact our Customer Support Team and provide us the brand name and model, battery type, battery details (capacity, voltage) so we can check if the item is safe for transport.' For the free 5 kg of medical supplies DAN AIR recommends carrying a prescription or medical recommendation.

Not published — DAN AIR publishes no maximum dimensions for a powered wheelchair and no hold-door or hold-compartment figures for its Airbus A319/A320 fleet.
Not published — DAN AIR states no maximum weight for a powered wheelchair.
Not published — DAN AIR does not say whether a powered chair is returned at the aircraft door or on the arrivals belt.
DAN AIR draws an explicit line between mobility aids and micromobility: 'E-bikes powered by batteries or segways which are not used as mobility aid are not accepted', and the prohibited list bans lithium-ion battery-powered vehicles 'other than any wheelchair or mobility equipment that meets our regulations' — so a device used as a mobility aid is not automatically refused, but must pass the same case-by-case check. Smart bags with the lithium battery still fitted are refused.
Manual wheelchairs
Up to two pieces of mobility equipment are carried free of charge, and wheelchair assistance is offered in three grades — WCHR (medium mobility), WCHS (limited mobility) and WCHC (completely immobile) — all at a fee of 0. 'Crutches or walking canes are permitted on board.'

Not published for wheelchairs. DAN AIR says only that crutches or walking canes are permitted on board, and that a compact stroller folding to 40 x 30 x 20 cm may go in the cabin in place of the small carry-on bag. Nothing is said about a folding manual chair in the cabin.

Not published — DAN AIR gives no in-cabin wheelchair stowage dimensions.
Not published — DAN AIR gives no maximum wheelchair dimensions. Its 100 x 80 x 30 cm figure is the limit for an ordinary piece of checked baggage and is not stated to apply to mobility aids.
Not published — DAN AIR publishes no weight limit for a mobility aid. Its 23 kg checked-baggage figure is the ordinary free allowance and is not stated to apply to wheelchairs, which travel outside the allowance.
Not published for wheelchairs. DAN AIR offers gate use only for strollers — 'you can request to have your stroller tagged at the check-in desk but use it until you reach the aircraft' — and says nothing about where a wheelchair is returned.

Special Category Passengers, including passengers with reduced mobility, must be at the check-in desk two hours before departure even if they checked in online, and cannot occupy an emergency exit seat (the over-wing rows and seats 1C/1D); if such a seat was booked online it will be reassigned at the desk or by the cabin crew. Passengers using only crutches or canes need not add the assistance service but are still bound by the seating restriction.
Booking & cost
'If you need assistance for transfer through the airport or for boarding, please make sure you add the Wheelchair service (based on necessity) at least 48 hours before the scheduled time of departure ... the assistance in the airport is provided by airport staff so the request must be sent in time. Adding the assistance service on your booking constitutes notification.' The conditions of carriage add that if assistance information reaches DAN AIR later than 48 h before take-off 'the passenger may be denied boarding'. Check-in desk: 2 hours before departure.

'If you need special assistance ... please access the Special category passenger section located under the name of the passenger and select the corresponding option ... You can also add the special assistance service after booking confirmation by contacting our Customer Support Team.' Because some services are subject to contingency, DAN AIR advises selecting the assistance type when the reservation is issued 'to avoid later availability issues'.

Conditions of carriage art. 16. DAN AIR publishes no mobility-aid-specific liability rule and no SDR figure. Procedure: a PIR must be raised at the Baggage Assistance Office before leaving the baggage-claim area — 'if the passenger ... does not submit a PIR report before leaving ... the air carrier declines its responsibility' — then a written claim through the contact form within 7 days for damage and 21 days for delay — re-read live on 2026-07-29 and unchanged: 'we cannot process claims for irregularities that were not reported (that are not documented in a PIR)'.

WCHC — 'Passenger in a wheelchair (completely immobile)' — is a bookable, free service, capped at 2 passengers per flight; WCHR and WCHS together are capped at 5. DAN AIR provides 'assistance for transfer through the airport or for boarding', while noting that 'the assistance in the airport is provided by airport staff'.

Fleet detail. DAN AIR operates Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft. It publishes no hold-door or hold-compartment dimensions and no maximum wheelchair size, so there is no way to check in advance whether a large power chair will fit. The only capacity figures it does publish are per-flight caps on assisted passengers: WCHR + WCHS no more than 5, WCHC no more than 2.
Worth knowing
THE HEADLINE RISK IS CAPACITY, NOT MONEY. Carriage is genuinely free — two mobility aids plus 5 kg of medical supplies at no charge, and WCHR/WCHS/WCHC all priced at 0 — but the tariff table caps assisted passengers per flight: WCHR + WCHS no more than 5, WCHC no more than 2. DAN AIR also warns that assistance services are 'subject to contingency', so book the service when you issue the ticket, not later. A power chair is never automatically accepted: it 'needs to be IATA approved' and Customer Support must clear the brand, model, battery type, capacity and voltage case by case. NO NUMBERS AT ALL are published — no watt-hour limits, no chair weight or dimension limits, no hold-door figures, no spare-battery count — so a traveller cannot self-check a chair against this airline's rules. NO PHONE AND NO E-MAIL: the sole channel is the web form at danair.ro/en/contact, whose request categories do not include disability or assistance. The live contact page sits behind a Cloudflare bot wall; its request-category list was read from an Internet Archive snapshot of 2024-08-06 — TWO YEARS OLD — and should be re-checked by a human. That wall was re-tested from scratch on 2026-07-29 with the repaired fetcher (--render 25 and three spaced attempts at --render 40, plain direct fetch, reader proxy, www/apex, trailing slash, /contact without /en, the Romanian /ro/contact, and Google's translation proxy) and it held every time, while every other danair.ro page loaded on the first try — so the block is on /contact specifically, not on the site, and the earlier 'unreachable' verdict is confirmed rather than overturned. CDX (limit=-12, no collapse) shows no capture of the page later than 2024-08-06. Everything else in this record was re-read live on 2026-07-29 and is unchanged: the special-assistance page still gives 48 h notice, two free mobility aids plus 5 kg of medical supplies and the IATA-approval requirement for electric chairs word for word, and the tariff table still shows WCHR/WCHS/WCHC at a fee of 0 with WCHR+WCHS ≤ 5 and WCHC ≤ 2. A live page (s9, flight-or-baggage-irregularities) was added as a source so the contact route and the 7-day/21-day claim deadlines no longer rest on the two-year-old capture alone. Two footer links on the live site, /en/baggage and /en/at-the-airport, are dead (404); the equivalent content lives under /en/information-center/. The site also still carries a banner saying the booking system is being updated and 'you may encounter minor errors'.
