AWA publishes no dedicated accessibility page and no disability-specific phone line or email; the mobility-aid rules are inside section 7.2 of the Conditions of Carriage. The airline says it designates a Customer Relationship Team (CRT) at every airport responsible for disability service delivery, requestable through any AWA agent, but publishes no direct CRT contact.

3 of the unanswered fields below share one explanation: Not published — motorised wheelchairs are refused, so AWA publishes no watt-hour limit. The rest carry their own.
Powered wheelchairs & batteries
The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.
CoC 7.2.1.2.11: "Due to the size and category of our EMBRAER 145 J aircraft we are not permitted to carry MOTORIZED WHEELCHAIRS with dry or wet-cell batteries." A fleet-wide refusal, not a route exclusion.

Not published. AWA's refusal (CoC 7.2.1.2.11) names "dry or wet-cell batteries" and does not mention lithium; with motorised chairs refused for aircraft-size reasons there is no published lithium allowance.
Not published — motorised wheelchairs are refused, so no spare-battery allowance is published.
Not published — motorised wheelchairs are refused.
No battery allowance published: AWA refuses motorised wheelchairs with dry or wet-cell batteries outright on its E-145 fleet.

The refusal of motorised wheelchairs is tied to the Embraer 145 J. AWA publishes no exception for any other aircraft type.
Manual wheelchairs
CoC 7.2.1.2.3: AWA transports "wheelchairs and other assistance devices for personal use at no charge". 7.2.1.2.2 covers WCHR passengers who can climb the aircraft steps and walk to their seat but cannot walk long distances.

Not published. AWA makes no provision for stowing a folding manual wheelchair in the cabin; its cabin-baggage rule is one item up to 5 kg and 18 x 50 x 33 cm.
Not published — AWA publishes no in-cabin wheelchair stowage space.
No maximum wheelchair size published. AWA's general hold-baggage rule (CoC 8.3.2) refuses any individual item with combined dimensions over 81 cm (height), 119 cm (width) and 119 cm (depth); the airline does not say whether this applies to a mobility aid, so no figure is recorded here.
No mobility-aid-specific weight published. AWA's general hold-baggage rule (CoC 8.3.2) is that it "cannot accept any individual item exceeding 32 kilos"; the airline does not say whether that applies to a wheelchair.
Not clearly published. CoC 7.2.1.2.6 promises only "Receipt of checked wheelchair or other assistance device upon disembarking or at baggage claim" — AWA does not commit to returning the chair at the aircraft door.
CoC 7.2.1.2: "The number of wheelchair passengers may be limited from time to time." CoC 8.3.7: AWA "will not accept responsibility for the damage or loss of protruding parts such as wheels, straps, pull handles" on checked items.
Booking & cost
CoC 7.2.1.1: acceptance of passengers requiring special assistance "is subject to prior arrangement with us. Passengers are advised to inform us of any disability or special need at least 72 hours before purchasing a ticket."

CoC 7.2.1.1 requires prior arrangement and an agreement by AWA to provide the assistance. 7.2.1.2.4: if no prior notice was given AWA will still "endeavor to ensure that all possible arrangements are made". Airport Customer Relationship Teams (CRT) can be requested through any AWA agent.

Not published. AWA says wheelchairs and other assistance devices for personal use are carried at no charge but never states how many devices per passenger.
CoC 14.1.1: on international flights "AWA's liability in the case of baggage irregularities is limited to a maximum of 1,131 SDRs". 14.1(e): SDR 19 per kilogram for hold baggage where the Warsaw Convention applies. CoC 8.3.7 disclaims responsibility for "damage or loss of protruding parts such as wheels, straps, pull handles".

On board
CoC 7.2.1.2.10: "AWA personnel are not insured, permitted or equipped with an ON BOARD WHEELCHAIR to be used to take passengers with disabilities to the lavatory."

Not published. AWA offers lavatory availability by aircraft type on request (Customer Commitment §7) but never states that any lavatory is accessible, and says there is no on-board wheelchair to reach one.
CoC 7.2.1.2.7: staff "are not permitted to hand-carry passengers on and off aircraft". 7.2.1.2.9: AWA "is not insured, permitted or equipped to hand carry any passenger that is unable to assist themselves" — WCHC and WCHS passengers. Customer Commitment §5: "Due to structural limitation on our current E-145 fleet, only WCHR cases are supported".

Fleet detail. AWA's Conditions of Carriage describe the fleet as the Embraer 145 J and cite its "size and category" as the reason motorised wheelchairs cannot be carried. General hold-baggage ceiling: no individual item over 32 kg or exceeding 81 cm (height) x 119 cm (width) x 119 cm (depth).
Worth knowing
Serious restrictions, all stated by AWA itself. (1) Motorised wheelchairs with dry or wet-cell batteries are refused across the whole E-145 fleet (CoC 7.2.1.2.11). (2) AWA will not hand-carry a passenger who cannot assist themselves, so WCHC and WCHS passengers are effectively not accommodated; only WCHR is supported (CoC 7.2.1.2.7/7.2.1.2.9; Customer Commitment §5). (3) No on-board wheelchair, therefore no lavatory access in flight. (4) No medical oxygen, stretchers, incubators or respirators (CoC 7.2.1.2.8/7.2.1.2.12). (5) The 72-hour notice is worded oddly — "at least 72 hours before purchasing a ticket", not before departure. The old domain flyawa.com.gh no longer resolves; the live site is flyafricaworld.com.
