Fragments only. Aeroflot publishes some assistance information but not a full mobility-aid policy. What is below is everything it actually states. Everything marked “not published” genuinely is — confirm it with the airline rather than assuming the international baseline applies.

Who to contact

Transcribed from the airline’s own pages, exactly as it labels them.

aeroflot.ru answers every request from a non-Russian IP address with HTTP 503 and the notice 'Доступ к сайту временно ограничен владельцем веб-ресурса' (access temporarily restricted by the site owner), through both a direct fetch and a rendering proxy, and on aeroflot.com as well — so the contact details above could not be re-verified against the live site. The 2022 snapshot gave a different disability line, +7 (495) 380-35-85, which the 2023 snapshot replaced with +7 (499) 270-34-70; the older number is not listed here. Aeroflot also reprints US DOT resources: disability hotline 1-800-778-4838 (voice) / 1-800-455-9880 (teletype) and the Office of Aviation Consumer Protection on 202-366-2220 (voice) / 202-366-0511 (teletype). Aeroflot suspended its US services in 2022, so the CRO addresses may no longer be staffed for US departures.

Powered wheelchairs & batteries

The part that goes wrong. Battery chemistry and watt-hours decide whether your chair flies, and the rules differ depending on whether the battery can be removed.

Powered chairs accepted
Conditional

Accepted only on approval: for a motorised wheelchair, 'carriage shall be confirmed after the request is granted'. 'Powered wheelchairs (equipped with a battery) must be checked as baggage during check-in ... the battery must be disconnected and battery terminals isolated to prevent a short circuit.' Aeroflot may refuse boarding 'if carriage of a wheelchair is not requested upon booking and ticketing'.

Lithium-ion batteries
Conditional

Accepted only on approval: the Li-ion cap is published inside Aeroflot's "Motorised wheelchair" rules, which open "Carriage shall be confirmed after the request is granted." "The capacity of a Li-ion wheelchair battery should not exceed 300 Wh." The battery must be disconnected and its terminals isolated, and the passenger must carry spanners/tools and a battery container. Figures are from a 15 March 2023 snapshot.

Watt-hour cap — battery stays in the chair
Not published

WITHHELD AS UNSAFE, NOT UNPUBLISHED. Aeroflot's page said 'The capacity of a Li-ion wheelchair battery should not exceed 300 Wh' — a single cap for the chair's own battery, not distinguishing installed from removed — but the only readable copy is a 15 March 2023 Internet Archive capture, 3 years 4 months old, and aeroflot.ru has been geo-blocked to every non-Russian IP since then, so no current confirmation exists. Do not travel on the 300 Wh figure without checking it with Aeroflot.

Watt-hour cap — battery removed into the cabin
Not published

No separate figure is published for a battery removed into the cabin. Aeroflot states one 300 Wh cap for 'a Li-ion wheelchair battery' (recorded under the installed limit) and never says the chair's battery must travel in the cabin.

Watt-hour cap — spare battery
Not published

WITHHELD AS UNSAFE, NOT UNPUBLISHED. The 15 March 2023 capture — 3 years 4 months old, and the newest readable copy in existence — said 'Only one spare battery with a capacity not exceeding 300 Wh may be carried as baggage, or two spare batteries, each with a capacity not exceeding 160 Wh.' Note Aeroflot's own wording was 'as baggage', not 'in the cabin'. No current confirmation is obtainable, so the 300 Wh figure is not presented as Aeroflot's live limit.

Spare batteries permittedmaximum number under any published configuration
Not published

WITHHELD AS UNSAFE, NOT UNPUBLISHED. On the 15 March 2023 capture Aeroflot allowed 'one spare battery with a capacity not exceeding 300 Wh … or two spare batteries, each with a capacity not exceeding 160 Wh', i.e. a maximum count of two at the lower rating. That page is 3 years 4 months old and aeroflot.ru is geo-blocked, so the count is not presented as current — confirm the number of spares with Aeroflot before flying.

Battery must be removed
Not published

Not stated outright. Aeroflot requires the battery to be disconnected and its terminals isolated, and requires the passenger to carry 'a set of spanners/tools for disconnecting the wheelchair battery terminals and a container for the battery in accordance with the ICAO's Technical Instructions ... Doc 9284 AN/905' (manufacturer packaging, a plastic or cardboard box). It does not say the battery must be removed from the chair or carried in the cabin. Terminals are disconnected by the accompanying person or the handling agent at the passenger's request and under their supervision.

No battery spec sheet, MSDS or manufacturer label is required for a wheelchair. When requesting carriage the passenger must state the chair's dimensions and weight and the battery and spare-battery type and capacity. Transport documents (datasheet, certificate of registration) are required for oxygen concentrators and cylinders, not for wheelchairs.

How to request assistance
Declare the disability when booking — via the website, a sales office or the contact centre

Russian law requires passengers to inform the airline of any disability when booking. At booking Aeroflot asks for the nature of the disability, whether assistance is needed at the airport, whether you travel with a companion or guide dog, and "what personal mobility aids you use; how many, their size, weight and other details (including the specifications of the battery if there is one)". Persons with disabilities have priority at Aeroflot sales offices and agency offices.

Worth knowing

STALENESS WARNING — EVERY FIGURE HERE IS 3 YEARS AND 4 MONTHS OLD, AND FOUR OF THEM HAVE BEEN WITHHELD BECAUSE OF IT. Status is 'partial' because of the source date, not because content was missing. Re-checked on 29 July 2026 with an upgraded fetcher: aeroflot.ru, aeroflot.com, api.aeroflot.ru and ir.aeroflot.ru all return HTTP 503 and 'Доступ к сайту временно ограничен владельцем веб-ресурса' to every non-Russian IP, on a direct fetch and through a 25-second JavaScript-rendering proxy alike, on the us-en, ru-en and ru-ru paths and on the baggage and dangerous-goods pages; the only Aeroflot host that answers is netstorage.aeroflot.ru, which serves nothing but the inflight magazine, so this record remains archive-only and no live citation could honestly be added. A fresh CDX sweep (limit=-8, no collapse) confirms the last readable capture of the accessibility page is 15 March 2023 (48 KB); every later capture — us-en 17 Mar 2025, ru-ru up to 15 Mar 2026, baggage/special up to 18 Apr 2026 — is a ~2 KB copy of the geoblock notice, and archive.today is behind a CAPTCHA. Because the figures are past the three-year mark, notice_hours (48 h), lithium_wh_installed_max (300 Wh), lithium_wh_spare_max (300 Wh) and spares_allowed (2) have been set to null with the 2023 numbers preserved inside their details, rather than presented to a traveller as current. Substance as of March 2023: 300 Wh cap on the chair's Li-ion battery, one 300 Wh spare or two 160 Wh spares 'as baggage', battery disconnected and terminals isolated, and the passenger must bring their own spanners and a battery container. Powered chairs need approval ('carriage shall be confirmed after the request is granted') and are always returned at baggage reclaim, never at the aircraft door. An on-board aisle wheelchair is carried on every Aeroflot-operated flight and needs no advance order — unusually good. Two things a human should re-check: (1) the notice deadline contradicts itself — the English wheelchair section says 36 hours, an untranslated Spanish paragraph in the baggage tab of the same page says 48 hours, and the stricter 48 h is what this record records; (2) refusal of boarding is an explicit published right 'if carriage of a wheelchair is not requested upon booking and ticketing', so the deadline is not advisory. The CRO email addresses for US departures survive on the page although Aeroflot stopped flying to the USA in 2022. 2026-07-30: the live page was supplied by a human, replacing an archive-only record whose newest capture was 3.4 years old. The substantive tabs on the page (Carriage of wheelchairs, Checked baggage, Airport assistance, Shoulder belts) are collapsed accordions whose bodies did not come through, so Aeroflot's battery chemistry rules, watt-hour figures and chair dimensions remain unread and stay null. Aeroflot cites the Russian Aviation Code, Ministry of Transport Order No. 82 of 28 June 2007 and Order No. 24 of 15 February 2016. A chargeable extra-seat service (EXST) is offered for personal comfort.
